My Baby is 2!

I can't believe that Cason is 2 years old today! It seems like just yesterday we had a baby. Now we have a walking talking 2 year old! Speaking of talking, he is saying all kinds of things these days. His favorite thing to say (or ask) is "What's that?". I think he asks that question at least 150 times a day. It's so cute and I love to see him interested in everything around him. Other cute things he is saying are;
choo-choo
outside
mo (which means milk)
Nyrna (Myrna is babysitter)
poo poo (i know, that shouldn't be cute but at this age it is, right?)
bus
truck
car
owie (he says that one a lot becuase he is constatnly getting hurt )
He is putting 2 and even 3 words together to make sentences. We are also working on counting to 5. He has the numbers 2 and 5 down but let's us say the rest.

Cason is in to absolutly EVERYTHING. We are fixing to put the door knob protectors on our doors because he can open them now. His favorite door to open is the pantry!

He LOVES trains. Espcially Thomas the Train. He is also really into cars and trucks. Pretty much anything that boys typically like, Cason likes. Although he likes to cook. He play cooks on his play kitchen and insists on helping me in the kitchen when I am cooking dinner. I am pretty good at cooking 1 handed these days because he HAS to see everything that is going on. I keep telling him in another couple of months my belly will be too big and I won't be able to carry him around the kitchen for 30 or 40 min. every night. I don't think he cares. :)
Toby and I tried to make today special even though we both had to go to work. We woke him up 10 min. early to show him his battery powered Thomas. I ate lunch with him at his babysitters house. And we had a small cake tonight.

Cason's 2nd Birthday Party

We celebrated Cason's birthday on Saturday with family and friends. The theme was planes, trains, and automobiles because Cason loves all 3 of those things.

I decided to make his cake this year. This is only the 2nd cake I have ever made. It's not a masterpiece or anything but what's on the inside made up for the outside!

Here is Cason as we sang Happy Birthday to him. He wasn't quite sure what to think. He also had to have his daddy's help to blow out the candle but I didn't get a picture of that.

Cason enjoying a bite of his cake. It's a rainbow cake! I make it all by myself BUT had recipe help from my friends Melodie and Amanda. My mom made the icing and helped me ice it!

He had a blast opening his presents!

Cason had many special guests come to his party. One was his babysitter Myrna and her son Luke. He wasn't quite sure what to think about her being in his house at first but it took about 3 seconds before he wanted her to hold him. He wouldn't let her put him down for a good 30 min.!
His other special guests were his Grandad and Bebe, Aunt Allison, Uncle Brian, and cousins Reid and Camille, "Aunt" Beth, Eli Walker, Parker and Samantha Sloan, and Sally Loyd minus the rest of the family :)!

Here is Cason playing with Grandad, Bebe and Cousin Reid. He had an absolute blast!

(You may have noticed in these pictures that Cason has a black eye. It's his very first black eye just in time for his 2nd birthday party! He fell at his babysitters house. I swear this kid is going to cost us a fortune because of all of his accidents!)

Cason Will Have A Sister!

Yup! We are having a girl! I am preparing myself for a lifetime full of drama! The 3of went to Target tonight to buy some little girl clothes. While we were there we looked at girl toys. I realized that our daughter may like Barbies! I NEVER liked Barbies. I am hoping she will have a love for My Little Ponies or something cool like that! :)

She is totally healthy and totally perfect and Toby and I couldn't be happier. I'm not so sure about Cason. He looked at the sonogram pictures and said, "doggie?". I think he may be a little disappointed when he has a baby sister and not a doggie.

I will have to add picture of the sonogram later. We are having technical issues!

A little side note:
I could use some prayers. I am not gaining enough weight. I actually haven't gained anything at all during this pregnancy. I lost 10 lbs. and have gained one of those pounds back. When I weighed in today I hadn't gained anything. :( This is largely due to my gallbladder. I am having problems with it and have to eat a very low fat diet. It's either that or wind up having gallbladder surgery while I'm pregnant which I am not a fan of. If I don't start gaining then I could be at risk for pre-term labor. Just pray that I can eat enough to make me and the baby happy!

Just for the record. I would love to pig out right now. I am hungry ALL the time. I am just having a hard time figuring out what I can eat without making my gallbladder hurt. Thanks in advance for the prayers!

All Aboard!

Happy Halloween!
Cason was a train conductor this year because of his love of trains, particularly Thomas the Train. He had so much fun trick-or-treating tonight! He really enjoyed getting candy. Now our challenge is going to be from keeping him from wanting to walk up to our neighbors house any day of the week to get candy!

And he's off!

His first candy. He is saying, "next house please!"

And yesterday Cason helped carve a jack-o-lantern!

Aboretum 2010

Last weekend my mom, dad and I took Cason to the pumpkin patch! Toby was at the Tech Baylor game so we decided to get out and have some fun. My sister and her family met us there too. Enjoy the pics!

All of these pictures show Cason's stitches. He got them out this past week and his head looks SOOO much better! It's amazing how fast our bodies heal!

ER Visits #1 AND #2

That's right, in the past 3 weeks Cason has been to the ER 2 times.

Trip #1
Cason stood up in his high chair, (i was sitting a foot away)leaned over to pick up his sippy cup and fell out of his high chair head first. He hit is head on the tile floor, started crying and then threw up. The fall scared Toby and I to death then he threw up that REALLY scared us so off to the ER we went. He checked out just fine and didn't even have a knot or a bruise.
*Disclaimer* We don't let him stand up in his high chair. I had just told him to sit down and started to reach for him to make him sit down when the accident happened. He doesn't sit in the high chair any more. We put him in a booster seat where we can strap him down. :)

So sad!

Trip #2
This past Wednesday, Cason tripped and hit his head on a drawer that was open not even an inch. He hit is head right on the corner of the drawer. I knew immediately that it wasn't a good fall and one look at his head proved I was right. I grabbed Cason, ran out of the house and over to my neighbors house. I rang their doorbell and sat on their front porch until they answered the door (i know, a little crazy). I asked my neighbor if he could drive me to the ER which he kindly did and waited until Toby got there. My mom also came. I was very glad to have them both there!

After we waited for and hour and half we found out what we already knew. Cason had to have stitches. :( He had a bunch of stitches on the inside and 6 on the outside. He didn't cry a lot when he fell but he screamed his head off while they were stiching him up.

The aftermath...

Now he's has happy as he can be!

His cut doesn't bother him at all! If he sees himself in the mirror he will say "owie" but other than that he acts like nothing is wrong.

I feel like I should win the "Worst Mom of the Year" award. I know that things like this happen and I know that this probably isn't the last time he will get hurt. I am just hoping and praying that it is at least 2 or 3 more years before it happens again. I am NOT cut out for things like this!

BIG News!!!!!

CASON IS GOING TO BE A BIG BROTHER!!!

Yup, I'm pregnant! I am about 13 or 14 weeks. My due date is end of March or early April and Toby and I can't be happier. Cason's happy too he's just not sure why :)!

I found out really early (like when I was 2 or 3 weeks pregnant) because I was supposed to be having tests run on my gallbladder. I had one blood pregnancy test but it came back negative so my Dr. scheduled me to have some kind of nuclear test on my gallbladder. He ordered another preg. test JUST to be sure. So I went in to have the test. It was early in the morning, I was fasting, and I REALLY needed caffeine. The nurse called me back to a room with all this equipment to begin my test. She started asking all the general questions:
Nurse: "When was the date of your last period?" Me: June whatever...
Nurse: "Are you on birth control?" Me: no
Nurse: "Are you trying to get pregnant" Me: Not really
Nurse: "There is no, not really, you either are or your not"
Me: "I guess there could be a REALLY small chance, like 2%, that I am pregnant.
But I know my body and I'm not pregnant."
Nurse: "Well we are going to have to postpone this test and when you start your
period you can come back"
Me: "I'm not coming back, we are going to do this today, I have paid for childcare. How come I can't take a pregnancy test to prove to you that I'm not pregnant?"

FINALLY after talking to her supervisor she took me to the lab to have a pregnancy test. A few minutes later some other nurse came and took me to another room where there was just a chair.

Nurse: "Well your pregnant"
Me: "WHAT?!?!?!? Are you serious?! How accurate is this pregnancy test?"
Nurse: "98% accurate mam"
Me: "Soooooo, there's a 2% percent chance it's a false positive?"
Nurse: "Well... yes but that's unlikely"

I didn't think I was pregnant at all! I guess the next time I shouldn't be so hard headed about these things. It was a surprise but a really good one! We can't wait to meet him/her!

Dallas World Aquarium

So it's been awhile since I have blogged. I have all these pictures of our summer that I want to post but they will have to wait b/c I want to share these first!
On Sat. morning Toby, Cason and I visited the Dallas World Aquarium. I have been there MANY times on field trips and on the weekends but this was by far the most enjoyable. Mainly because I was there with my family but also because hardly anyone else was there. It was perfect! Enjoy the pictures!

Vacation 2010

This may be the very first post since Cason has been born that doesn't' have any pictures of him! Don't worry grandparents, I will post pictures of what he did the week we were gone soon!
Toby and I went on a Princess Cruise with our good friends the Loyds. We left from Ft. Lauderdale. Our first stop was Princess Cays, Bahamas. Sally and I spent the entire day laying out and the boys snorkeled for a good portion of the day. They was some really cool fish and a lobster!

Our next stop was Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It was SOOO beautiful. We climbed up Dunn's River Falls and went on a chair lift through the rain forest and up a mountain. I want to go back!

After Jamaica we stopped in Grand Cayman. This was by far my favorite place. We went to a sea turtle farm, a place called Hell, and we swam with sting rays. SOO COOL!

Our last stop was Cozumel, Mexico. It was a little rainy that day but we still had fun! I learned how to paddle board. If I lived near a beach this would become a hobby of mine! It was fun. And yes, I said "I", Toby had a hard time! I'm not sure he stood up for more than a couple of seconds at a time! He blames it on the fact that he had a shorter board. I think I am finally better at something than he is!

We ate a TON of good food. I am ashamed to so say that I gained a good 8 pounds! My only saving grace was that it seems I caught some kind of stomach bug on the ship and my first day back home lost 6 of those pounds. NOT a fun way to loose them!

8 days was a long time to be away from Cason. I am not sure I will do that ever again. 4 days maybe, but 8 days NO! He was just fine staying here with my parents and grandma. It is good to be home!
