Garbage Truck 4th Birthday Party!

This weekend we had Cason's 4th birthday party. He LOVES trash trucks and asked if he could have a trash truck party. There are very few trash truck themed parties but I did find some ideas on the Internet (actually not on Pinterest)! We decided to have it at a pavilion and playground in my parents neighborhood. The kids played on the playground and in the sand volleyball court.  The weather was PERFECT! It was warm and sunny (a little windy, but we were ok with that) and I think everyone had a great time!

Crazy BeBe!

For lunch we had Sanitation Sandwiches, Peanut Butter and Junk, Landfill Chips, Trashcan Party Mix, Dump Dirt Cakes, Waste Water, and WONDERFUL Cookies and Dream Cupcakes!

The party favor bags had a recycled crayon, slime putty, trash truck coloring page and M&M's
After the party we spent the day at Grandad and BeBe's where Cason opened more presents!

Soccer

Toby and I had been contemplating putting Cason in soccer this year but put it off until it was too late. Plus he didn't meet the age requirement for some of the programs. THEN we found out that the City of Rowlett was offering a 5 week Soccer Skills Camp for 3-5 year olds. They would practice once a week for 4 weeks and then on the 5th week play a game. We thought it was a perfect opportunity for Cason to learn some soccer skills. Plus it didn't put very much pressure on him to enjoy it or do well.

The first 2 practices were a DISASTER! He cried through the entire practice and wouldn't do anything unless Toby or I were standing right beside him. The 3rd practice was better only because we bribed him with a Batman Mask to do it by himself without crying. The 4th practice he didn't go to and the 5th practice/game he was sick so he didn't get to participate in :(. Needless to say, I am not sure if I see soccer in the future. If he does play he will be a little older!

Halloween 2012 (We Made It!)

I am so glad that we got to go trick or treating this year! It almost didn't happen. Cason started running a low grade fever late in the afternoon but was acting totally fine (if not WAY to excited it was Halloween). We decided to go trick or treating and made it most of the way without Cason feeling too bad. He started feeling bad right at the end but WE DID IT! Whoo Hoo! Now Cason and I are both sick but hopefully everyone will feel better before his birthday part next weekend!

We went over to my parents house to trick or treat in their awesome neighborhood. We had dinner with cousins, Reid and Camille, and friend Teegan. After dinner it was trick or treating!
Cason was a tractor (we tried to convince him to be Bam Bam but that didn't work)
Molly was Pebbles (my mom made her pink Pebbles dress!)
Reid was a fire fighter (he helped put out "fires" around the neighborhood!)
Camille was a University of Tulsa cheerleader (her parents college)
Teegan was an adorable giraffe. I LOVE LOVE LOVE giraffes!

My little tractor :). This costume was so fitting for him. He loves heavy machinery! He wanted to be a trash truck but unfortunately couldn't find a trash truck costume. This was a good compromise!

Pebbles! I'm not sure why her mouth is wide open in every picture. She LOVED trick or treating!

The cousins in my dad's garden wagon. It makes for great transportation around the neighborhood!

This picture makes me laugh. It was the only one I could get of the 5 of them. A bunny ran by at this moment and made them all stand still enough for the picture. Too bad they weren't looking at me!

This sums up our night. Molly grabbing handfuls of candy out of my parents candy bowl. She would actually sneak out to get some more. We also found a sucker in her hair at the end of the night. That is a sign that this little girl had a blast!

Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins

It's that time of year! We had a pumpkin themed weekend. First the kids and I carved a pumpkin. Then we went to the Dallas Arboretum for our annual pumpkin patch visit. My parents are members now which is AWESOME! We get in free! The Arboretum is also has a Chihuly exhibit right now that is beautiful. The kids were really hard to wrangle this time around. We didn't get too many pictures of Molly actually looking at the camera. They were WAY too busy but they had fun so that's all that matters!

The kids were cleaning out their own pumpkins

the masterpiece

we saw a lot of this :)

the best we could get of the two of them together

SF Day 3

Tuesday was our 3rd day in San Francisco. I shopped some more while Toby was in classes. The Union Square area had great shopping but way to expensive for me. Tuesday morning I found a place that had stores I could afford. It wasn't very close to where we were staying but it was worth the walk! After Toby was finished with his classes for the day we took a quick trip to see the Golden Gate Bridge. We walked about half way over and decided to come back so we could explore the trails around the bridge. We ended up walking a little ways on the other side of the bridge. I wish we could have walked the entire trail because there was a beach at the end of the trail but it was getting late and we didn't want to get stuck in a bad part of town after dark waiting on buses to get us back to our hotel! We did get to see some beautiful views!

This was our last day of fun in San Francisco. I flew back to Texas the next day while Toby stayed for 1 more day of classes. Then he returned on Thursday. It was a such a fun trip and I am glad that Toby and I got to spend some quality time together!

Have I ever mentioned that Toby is terrified of heights? Here he is hanging on to the bridge for dear life!

A view of Union Square. Oracle had taken over! The city was literally over taken with tech nerds that week!

San Fran Day 2

Our second day in San Francisco was just as fun as the first. While Toby was in his classes I walked around and shopped the entire morning and early afternoon! It was great! I have to admit I was a little sore from all the walking up hills. I AM OUT OF SHAPE!!  When Toby was finished we rode the Cable Car to Ghirardelli Square where we had an awesome dessert. After that we walked along a beach and a pier. It was SOOO nice just to be able to relax and not be in a hurry to get back anywhere. I have to mention the weather. They were having their "Indian summer". It was bright and sunny every single day and the temperature was in the upper 80's. I am used to it being cold and foggy so I brought long sleeve shirts! I didn't believe that it was going to be that warm!

yummy!

San Francisco Day 1

Toby and I went to San Francisco this week! He went for a conference but I tagged along for fun! It was great! We got there Sunday morning and had to check in to our hotel and Toby had to register for his classes. We stayed in a hotel on Union Square and his conference was in several hotels in the area. This was my fourth time to SF but Toby's first so we had to do all of the touristy things. The first stop was Pier 39 and Alcatraz.
We went to see the Sea Lions and took pictures for Cason and Molly

Another view. I think San Francisco is my favorite city. I spent an entire summer just north of there so I feel attached in some way. I think it is absolutely beautiful!

Cason was very confused when I told him that dada was in jail. I hope he doesn't repeat this to anyone!

So, I dropped the ball as far as transportation goes. I knew we probably need to buy a bus pass but didn't research how to go about that. We took a cab down the pier but couldn't find one to take us back to Union Square. We decided to walk. I knew it was going to be a long walk but I forgot how much of that walk was up hill! It was about a 2 mile walk straight up hill. I was really sore the next day! On our way back to the hotel we saw a trash truck and fire truck. We had to take a picture of them to show Cason since he is only mildly obsessed with trash trucks. :)
We got a really weird look from the trash truck driver!
